Job Description

Summary As a Supervisory Park Ranger, you will lead the interpretive program planning, delivery, and evaluation for Hot Springs National Park. The park has exciting large scale interpretative media projects just getting underway including a new park film, new wayside exhibits and a new exhibit project for the Hot Springs Mountain Tower. Responsibilities Prepare long-range plans for interpretive and educational programming throughout the park Integrate division plans into interpretive program plans and ensure interpretive/educational program goals are included in long-range park planning Supervise Park Rangers, Park Guides, and Education Technicians by evaluating performance, recommending personnel actions, and enduring their on the job health and safety Direct the development and implementation of interpretive and educational programming by providing guidance on interpretive techniques, resources, and methods and reviewing materials completed by other staff to provide feedback Develop and execute a program budget and participate in park-wide budgeting efforts Foster relationships with academics, Native American tribes, educational institutions, and others to develop interpretive/educational programming Serve as a park spokesperson and collaborate with the media to promote park programs and policies Oversee a Volunteers in Parks program Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In order to be qualified for this position, you must possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service, developing and delivering interpretive or educational programming; writing a variety of informational products, such as news releases, articles, social media posts, for the general public; providing input into a program's management by monitoring financials, drafting operating policies, or providing technical guidance to others; and maintaining working relationships with external partners to complete joint projects, share information, or foster support for a program. For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of specialized experience that you will be granted. An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience. For all other applicants who are not current federal employees, your resume must state either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected. Education Additional Information Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will be paid if the person selected for the position is from outside the local commuting area and is otherwise eligible for reimbursement of relocation expenses under the Federal Travel Regulations (such as current permanent Federal employees).
