Job Description

The Clinical Therapist is responsible for providing mental health support and trauma-informed care   to an incarcerated population. This role involves working with a diverse group of clients, many of whom have experienced significant trauma. Candidates should be skilled in using evidence-based therapeutic approaches, with a focus on trauma-informed care. Therapists will collaborate with clients to identify mental health concerns, develop individualized treatment plans, and implement interventions aimed at promoting healing, increasing prosocial behavior, and preparing clients for successful reintegration into society.

Essential Functions:

• Provide individual, group, and family therapy to incarcerated individuals, addressing the root causes of trauma and mental health challenges.
  
• Diagnose clients with behavioral and mental health disorders in alignment with DSM-V diagnostic criteria.
  
• Work collaboratively with clients to identify mental health concerns, develop personalized treatment plans, and implement evidence-based interventions to foster healing, encourage prosocial behavior, and support successful reintegration into society.
  
• Maintain licensure in good standing with New York State.
  
• Adhere to professional ethics and maintain clear boundaries regarding client care and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  
• Demonstrate reliability and consistency with attendance and punctuality.
  
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with program and state regulations.
  
• Engage in ongoing professional development and training to remain current with best practices, particularly in trauma-informed care and rehabilitation.
  
• Supervise Limited Permit Mental Health Counselors (LPMHCs), providing guidance and ensuring adherence to clinical standards and ethical practices.
  
• Foster positive working relationships with colleagues and staff across the organization.

Requirements

● Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling

● Mental Health Counseling License

● All applicants must be fluent in English

● Strong assessment and treatment planning skills
